Well, today my mother and I went to DC just for a day trip. Before we left, I checked the mail, and alas!

Moony bought me the CUTEST Supernatural pins at AZ! She sent them to me with a really cute card and a picture of the Eiffel Tower. <3
We drove to the closest metro stop to make our trip easier. It was a kind of shady station, but it was okay. When we got in to DC, we went to the American Indian Museum first since we had never been there before. We didn’t stay very long, though, because we had gotten to DC later than we wanted to and we wanted to visit the other museums more.

I really liked this.
We walked to the Natural History Museum, and we went to the ocean exhibit first. I was so excited! I love it so much and I was happy to look at it again now that I’ve actually taken oceanography. I love my major so, so much. After that, we went to the dinosaur part, and then the mammals section. We were there for a little while, and then we were hungry but the museum was closing, so we went to the American History Museum.

They had a megalodon jaw!! I was so excited!!
The big cafeteria place in the American History Museum was closed, so we went to the little cafe they have. The food was expensive, but it’s a free museum, so we didn’t mind. It was pretty good, too! When we finished eating we didn’t have that much time left, about an hour and fifteen minutes, to check out the museum, so we went straight to the exhibits we wanted to see most - the political/war exhibits and the entertainment ones. That was after looking at all of the glass cases and seeing so many cool old things, everything from an old porcelain jar that was full of leeches for bleeding in old medicine, to Daniel Radcliffe’s robes from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, to a seriously old computer, to greeting cards from the late 1800’s!

The chicken caesar wrap was prettyyyy delicious!

I really liked the old mini sewing machine and the toaster.
I really, really enjoyed the politics/war section, I always have. We didn’t get to go through the whole part because an employee walked by and told us we had five minutes left, but we saw a good chunk! It was different from the last time I was there. I loved loved loved all of the old presidential stuff. All of the inauguration gowns of the First Ladies were so beautiful.

ABE LINCOLN’S TOP HAT. THAT HE WORE TO THE THEATRE. THE NIGHT HE WAS MURDERED.
With our last five minutes, we decided to quickly check out the entertainment section. It was totally different from the last time I was there! They had changed it to pop culture stuff from 1939, and the rest of the exhibit was blocked off, sadly. But they had a few things from The Wizard of Oz, so I was happy! They even had a page from the script!

The Scarecrow’s actual hat and boots!
After we left the museum, we walked around for a little bit on the mall and I took a bunch of photos of the Washington Monument in the sunset and the castle. They were so pretty! After that we walked to the nearest metro station to go wait for it to arrive so we could go home. A woman sat down on the bench next to my mother, and they started talking. She turned out to be a published author! She was really nice and cool, and she was apparently even on the Oprah Show. She gave my mom her business card so they could keep in contact. They talked until the woman’s stop (the one before ours), and then we got in the car and drove home.
Oddly enough, on the way home, we randomly saw fireworks. Only three or four, but they weren’t the normal ones people set off on the streets during the Fourth of July. They went up pretty high, but not as high as the professional ones. It was really weird!
Then we stopped to get a milkshake. And we got home and I put up photos. All in all, it was a good day! (: I had a ton of fun and I can’t wait to go back and look at the museums again. We hadn’t been in so long! I love going out places with my mom, we always have a great time.
Oh, when I got home, I took a picture of the souvenir post cards I got. They’re so cute!

My little brother got into outer space and stuff so my step-mom bought him a place mat with all the planets on it. When I first saw it, I was upset, because it was newer and so Pluto wasn’t labeled. I was about to say something when I noticed something…
Pluto is there.
The artist remembered Pluto.
